Schouten Buchu Blue Gin N°3

Gin No.3 bears the name Khoisan and is a New Western Style Gin. Striking by the deep blue color and the smell and taste of the native herb Buchu

The taste buds are surprised by the spicy herbs and floral freshness with a bitterness in the aftertaste. The juniper is subtly present as are the warm accents of the orange, which again fits beautifully with the main player of this Gin, the Buchu. This herb provides the characteristic flavor shades of blueberries and cassis. The addition of caraway seeds and various peppers make this Gin significantly different from any other Gin you've tasted so far.

They only place where Buchu grows is in the mountains of the West Cape in South Africa.
When the Dutch colonists set foot on the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa in 1652, the Khoisan were the first people they encountered. These originally Hunter-gatherers introduced it to the new settlers for their sacred herb Buchu. The aromatic, calming and stimulating effect of this herb was essential for its medicinal use and therefore of great importance in the history of the Khoisan people.
