Profesor´s - Old Tom´s Gin

The name 'Old Tom Gin' is used for sweet gins, as they were made during the Gin Craze at the beginning of the 18th ^century . This gin is slightly sweeter than London Dry and slightly drier than Jenever. That is why this drink is also called “the missing link”.

The name 'Old Tom' most likely originates from the same time, when a wall decoration in the shape of a black cat (or “Old Tom”) was hung on the outside wall of some bars.

Thirsty passers-by could throw a penny in the cat's mouth and then get a shot of Gin from the bartender through a small tube between the cat's legs. The first vending machine was a fact!

Old Tom gins are often not combined with tonic, but mainly with a retro Tom Collins, a Martinez, or another classic cocktail.
